Hi, I’m Zack Te Puni, and I’m the founder of Kaha Club, a space I created to help young athletes grow through basketball in a positive, supportive environment. I’ve been passionate about the game since I was a kid in primary school, and that love has taken me on an incredible journey. I went to Rangitoto College, where I developed my skills and worked hard to grow as a player. Eventually, I had the chance to travel to the U.S. and play for the College of Saint Rose, which was an amazing experience.
Since returning home, I’ve continued playing at a high level, spending a short stint in Australia playing in NBL1 and competing in New Zealand’s NBL. Now I’m focused on giving back and helping the next generation of players find their place in the game. I remember what it was like to feel the pressure of competition, and I understand how tough that can be. That’s why I want to create an environment where kids can learn, grow, and play without feeling overwhelmed. I aim to teach basketball in a way that is supportive, fair, and fun, because that’s when players truly shine.
In addition to my basketball experience, I’m a qualified personal trainer. I bring fitness and performance training into my coaching, helping kids not only develop their basketball skills but also build strength, agility, and overall wellbeing. Outside of training, I’ve worked in before and after school care, where I loved supporting kids and helping them reach their full potential. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned over the years and support young athletes to become not only better players, but more confident and capable individuals.
